Natural-looking haircuts are always in style, and short cuts are both convenient and comfortable. For summer or warm climates especially, a short hairstyle is the way to go. Though most trendy coifs or cuts are structured and controlled, natural styles require less maintenance and may be achieved with little or no effort.
A Bob Cut
A bob is a simple, straight cut rounded on the ends and can be worn short or long. Bobs frame the face closely, so consider your face shape when choosing this cut. A long bob lengthens the face, whereas a short one widens it. This style suits thin and thick hair, but looks best when sleek and smooth. A thin coat of sheen product will prevent flyaways and keep hair shiny.
Pixie
A pixie is a youthful, layered cut, which may include bangs or fringe. This cut works well on all ages and personalities. Lengths are often mixed, creating an easygoing, slightly unkempt look. Pixie cuts are versatile and can be styled as fun and flirtatious or sensible and groomed. For the dreamy 'bedhead' look, muss or fluff hair lightly.
Afro
The "Afro" is a classic style that is in fact long but can look short because of its volume. This style favors dense curly hair which can be left to grow naturally. However easy it is to care for, it requires some upkeep to remain soft, strong and well shaped. Condition deeply with natural oils or conditioner and allow the serum to sit before rinsing. Comb hair from ends to roots. If desired, you can comb hair straight and then separate into sections and curl with an iron or rollers but be careful as heat can damage your hair.
Wavy and Curly
Wavy or curly hair, when cut short, retains its bounce and height. It is a lovely romantic look associated with mythical beauties. Yet waves and curls can be hard to manage. To prevent frizz, comb hair when wet, towel dry and add a little gel or moose to hold the curl. If you prefer no product, twirl the hair in sections around your finger in the direction of growth or curl. Allow hair to air dry, or use a hairdryer with a diffuser.
Cropped
Cropped hair is a close cut of short layers across the scalp. This stand-out cut style can be softened with wisps and muted color or dramatized with edgy angles and spikes. A cut well suited to square jaws or strong features, it is also a bold but striking choice that flatters most older individuals. Cropped hair is a popular African American style. The simplest versions of this style allow you to wash and go, whereas fringed versions may call for some light moose or finger styling.
