Short, spiked hair has become a very popular style for young men. Actors such as Josh Duhamel and sports stars such as David Beckham style their hair in such a way. To start, you will need to cut your hair short enough to achieve spikes, but not too short to where it is a buzz cut. Then, styling gel can be applied to achieve the desired spike. Traditional Spikes
Traditional spikes are the most popular and easiest to achieve. All you have to do is apply gel to the top of your head and spike your hair with your fingers. There are many variations to this style. You can do just the top, leaving the sides flat, or you can spike the entire head, including the top, sides and back. The types of spikes can be varied as well. Mohawk
The Mohawk is a more extreme variation of the spiked hairstyle. To achieve a Mohawk, you will need to shave the sides of your head but leave a straight line of longer hair intact that stretches from the front all the way to the back. Faux Hawk
The faux hawk is a less extreme, but still fun, variation of the Mohawk. To achieve this style, do not shave your head as you would for a Mohawk, but rather leave the sides intact.
