Long Spiky Hairstyles for Men ~ Hair Styling Tips

Hairstyling for men can be an issue, especially if you are a man who opts for long hair. For men, long hair can mean a few inches long to all the way past their shoulders. One style that offers a lot of options is long spiky hair, done using a variety of styling products.

The Mohawk is a common spike style for men and a very drastic one, but for some it fits just right. To achieve a Mohawk you first need to shave the left and right sides of your head. Next, gel and spray the remaining hair heavily so it is stiff and straight up from the front to the back. The final result will somewhat resemble a fan.

A semi-Mohawk is a spiky look that is less intense then the Mohawk, but still has style. Depending on the length of your hair, start with it around chin length. Instead of shaving the sides of your head, give them a close buzz and get the back side as well. Gel the remaining long hair on the top of the head and spray it up straight. You can then use pomade for texture, and the final look is a subtle but stylish Mohawk.

Long spiky hair that comes below the chin and is not styled straight up is another kind of rock-and-roll look guys can do. This look is very easy to style with the help of a little bit of pomade. All that needs to be done is taking one-to-two-inch sections of hair and spiking the end of it with pomade. This gives a messy look that has a touch of style.

The front spike is a fashionable look and is also easy to achieve. Begin with a close shave for this. You'll also want to leave the front part above the forehead, and a few inches back, longer. If you have very long hair, like below the chin, this look is a devils spike or devil's lock. If your hair is shorter, such as only four inches long, this is a more chic fashion look. Both styles use pomade to spike the hair up in the front. Long hair past the chin, like a devils lock, will fall over the face in a spike.

For a crazy and wild spiked-out look, often found in the punk scene, create multiple spikes. Take your hair in one-to-two-inch sections and spike it stiff and straight out on all the sides. You'll also want to spike it up on the top of your head. Use both hair gel and hairspray for a stiff spike like this one.
