Oriental hair is often viewed as being black, long and straight. Oriental hair is also easy to handle as it does not have a coarse texture like Afro hair. Therefore there is a number of styles that can be created. The common long straight hair has dissolved and Oriental people have taken a more modern approach to hair, often creating looks of the western world.
Short Cuts
The best way to create a short Oriental hairstyle is having a shorter length hair cut. A flicked hair style can be created with hair wax and hair gel. If the hair is straightened or naturally straight then it is easy to extract some hair wax or gel and comb it through the hair using fingers. The style is then created by moulding the hair in a pattern, so that the outer layers of the hair and flicked out, with the ends facing upwards.
Chic Style
A chic Oriental style consists of creating a fringe at the front of the hair. The fringe would be long in length and would sweep across the front to one side. The rest of the hair at the back is kept very simple and straight but not ceramic straight. It should look very natural and product free, to look effortless.
Wavy look
Wavy hair is usually associated with long flowing hair however this style suits short Oriental hair. The best way to create this look is by having very short boy length hair. This is then created using heated hair rollers or normal hair rollers. The rollers should be applied to the hair when it is damp dry. The rollers should then be clipped in to place using the roller clips. The rollers are then left in the hair for the hair to dry naturally or a blow dryer can be used to speed the effect up. However be careful not to dry the hair using a blow dyer on a high heat because this results in the hair looking frizzy. Once dry, remove the rollers.
Classic Bob
The bob cut is a classic but always on trend for a hairstyle. Oriental hair is best suited for this style because Oriental hair is usually very straight therefore does not frizz or climb up making the hair appear even shorter. The best way to have the perfect bob is to have the hair cut cupping the face, which has the effect of also slimming the face. This style requires no work and has a very effortless look. An update on the style could be an application of highlights which suit the dark hair.
