How to Use Baby Powder to Style Hair ~ Hair Styling Tips

It is lots of fun to create different looks for yourself by changing up your hairstyle. This can be somewhat difficult if you have fine or thin hair that tends to not hold any style for long. Many people recommend washing your hair in the evening and allowing the natural oils of you hair to weigh it down a bit before you style it in the morning. This can create another problem however. If you have blonde or light colored hair, it may end up looking greasy. There are a number of hair products designed to help reduce oils, but they can be pretty costly. Knowing how to use substitute products can help you get the style you want while reducing your costs.

Instructions

Purchase baby powder from your local drug store, grocery store or super store. Make sure to look at the ingredients on the powder before buying it. The main ingredient you are looking for is talc. The only other ingredient I would recommend is fragrance and this is optional. Johnson and Johnsons baby powder is a good choice.

Wash your hair in the evening if you want to style it in the morning (or in the morning if you want to style it in the evening). Baby powder tends to be most effective for hair styling 12 to 24 hours after it has been washed. Blow drying your hair is optional, however blow drying and using moose will help create volume and make your hair more manageable later. To do this, comb a small amount of moose in your hair after shampooing it and blow it dry.

Open up the baby powder by slightly turning the twist top, when you are ready to style your hair. Apply a small amount by gently pouring it along your hair line that frames your face and on the part of your hair.

Use a brush or comb to comb the baby powder through your hair. Start at the front of your hair line and comb back.

Look in the mirror to see if all the oil has been absorbed by the powder. Add more powder as necessary until you achieve your desired look. Your hair should appear clean and light and the powder should add some texture, making it easier to style.

Style your hair to finish the look.
