How to Style Synthetic Hair Extensions

While synthetic hair extensions can look as great as natural human hair, they cannot be styled using curling or straightening irons without suffering irreparable damage. There is a way, however, to style your extensions without destroying them in the process.

Instructions

    1

Part a section of the hair extension and detangle it using a comb. Spray the hair from root to tip with a bottle filled with water.

    2

Roll the hair extension with a roller. Repeat this process until the all the hair extensions have been rolled. If a synthetic wig is being styled, repeat the process until the entire wig is covered with rollers. The more hair that is placed on a roller, the larger the curls will be.

    3

Heat water on a stove to a low boiling point. If a synthetic wig is being styled, either place it in a large container or bowl and pour the water onto it or dip the wig into the water for a few seconds.

If the hair being styled is attached to your head, pour water into a tall cup and dip the hair into the water for a few seconds. Place a large towel around your neck so it will not get burned. Tilt your head back while a friend brings the cup of water up to dip the curls in. Lean your body forward and tilt your head downward to in order to dip the rollers on top of your head into the water.

You can either do this yourself or with a friend's help.

    4

Remove the rollers immediately after dipping and allow the hair to dry. Style the hair as the desired.
