Sponge rollers are useful for curling your hair if you want to shave some time off of your morning routine. They're easy to apply and remove without damaging your hair. They're also relatively comfortable to sleep in and will stay in if they're applied correctly.

Instructions

    1

Comb hair straight back, and remove all tangles. Apply a lightweight moisturizer to the hair, if desired. For curly or coarse textures of hair, a lightweight moisturizer will help the curl to set in better.

    2

Part your hair into four equal sections. Starting with one of the rear parted sections, gather a portion of hair no more than 1 1/2 inches wide.

    3

Wrap the roller tissues around the sponge rollers, one at a time, before wrapping the hair around the roller. Don't wrap all of the tissues at once or they'll come off. Use one roller tissue, then immediately roll one small section of hair. You can use the sponge rollers without tissue but it could damage fragile hair. The sponge is soft to the touch but rough on hair follicles when they are rubbed back and forth over them during the night.

    4

Gather the small section of hair in one hand and roller in the other, while holding the tissue in place. Lay the end of the small section of hair over the tissue. While holding it flat against the roller, begin to slowly turn the roller until the desired length of hair is wrapped. For a loose curl at the ends only, wrap the hair all the way around the roller at least once. The more times you wrap the hair around, the tighter the curl will be. For the look of a roller set, use smaller sections of hair and wrap them tightly.

    5

Repeat this process of parting small sections, applying tissue to the rollers, and applying to the hair. Finish the back sections and then the two front sections. Wear a loosely tied silk or satin scarf before bed. This prevents the sponge rollers from falling out and to keeps the hair from drying out from contact with sheets and pillowcases.
