Long hair that gets in the way can be difficult to manage for a girl who is very active or into sports. You may just go to the gym a lot or not have time for a long drawn-out morning hair routine. Sometimes it's worth it to get an extra 15 minutes of sleep for a sporty wash-and-wear hairstyle.
Pixie Cut
Pixie cuts are short, easy to manage and are usually layered. The beauty of a pixie cut is that it is wash-and-wear. You don't even need to brush this length hair. Just run your fingers through it and go. This is especially true if you use a good conditioner, either in the shower or after your shower, with a leave-in conditioning spray. Many people who sport pixie cuts use mousse or gel on their hair when it's wet to create spikes or a tousled look. This style won't blow in the wind or get in your way for sports. Pixie cuts work best on girls with more delicate and soft features.
Bob
A short bob is another sporty hairstyle that's great for the girl on the go. A bob can be cut straight across in a blunt cut so all the hair is one length or can be cut on a diagonal with the longest points on either side in the front. The latter tends to create a more sophisticated look. A bob works well with or without bangs. This hairstyle is wash-and-wear but can be blow-dried and curled for dressier looks for non-sport activities. You can also tousle this look with leave-in conditioning spray or mousse. Gel isn't recommended for this style since it tends to make the hairstyle too flat.
Ponytail
Some girls into sports want a hairstyle that works for their activity, but they don't want short hair. In this case a ponytail is a simple option to keep hair off the face and out of the eyes. All that's required is an elastic cloth band, which gives you the versatility of converting your ponytail into a bun. A strong, extra-hold hairspray and a headband can be used in breezy conditions on the field to keep blowing strands of hair out of the mouth and eyes.
Braids
Wearing your hair in braids takes a lot more time to do; however, once the hair is in place, it won't get blown around by the wind, and it will stay out of your face. A French braid is usually the best option to keep your hair more secure and from blowing about. Use a leave-in conditioner spray to help comb through the hair and divide it off into sections better. Unless you're a hair whiz, try to find another person to set your braid for you so it's straight.
