Teens have a variety of styles and trends to choose from when creating their look, and the most important choice they have to make involves hair. One look that has grown in popularity for teens is the messy hairstyle. If you want a laid-back, messy look, there are many options.

Choppy layers give hair shape and volume. This style works for any length, but looks best on hair that hits the shoulders. Ask your stylist to cut choppy layers all over. Separate and style layers with hair wax or pomade.

Another messy hairstyle involves razor-cutting the hair and sweeping it forward. Ask your stylist to use a razor to create sharp, wispy edges, and to style it forward. At home, style with hair gel, pulling it forward and using a blow dryer to set.

Messy waves give your style a natural, youthfully disheveled look. Start with hair that is all one length, with side-swept bangs if you choose. Use hair gel on damp hair and scrunch it. Twist sections, holding them for a few seconds to add more wave, as you blow dry.

This style is longer on top and twisted forward for messy locks. Ask your stylist to cut hair shorter on the sides than on top, so that you can pull it forward over your forehead. Apply hair wax, twist and pull forward for an unruly but trendy look.
