Possibly the most important part of any girl's rock star image is her hair. With a bit of patience and some simple hairstyling tools and products, you'll be on your way to rockin that new do quicker than you can say, We're more popular than Jesus.

Poofs are all the rage right now. Every time you think they're going out of style, another female rock star submerges and reinvents this look, leaving us wide-eyed and wondrous of how this style managed to stay popular for so long.
Creating your own poof at home is easy but takes some time and patience. Begin with dry, unwashed hair (somewhat dirty hair is easier to mold into up-do styles.) Tip: if you wear bangs, be sure to separate them with a hair clip before begin teasing the rest of your hair. Add some body and wave to your hair by curling sections with a 1 to 2 inch barrel curling iron. Beginning at your forehead, take a long, thin horizontal section of your hair and hold it up. Spray the fronts and back of roots of this sections with hairspray. Tease the hair in a downward motion with a fine tooth comb, starting at the roots and working your way up towards the ends. Repeat this with several more sections until the entire top of your head has been sprayed and teased (with the exception of your bangs, which you can style normally.) Gather the teased hair and arrange it on the top of your head to resemble a poof. Once you are happy with the height and placement of your poof, secure the look with some metal bobby pins on the back of your head. Finish with an ungodly amount of hairspray and you will good to go.
Rock Star Streaks
What looks better on a head of plain black, brown or dirty blond hair than some punk inspired red, hot pink or stark white streaks? Achieving this look requires the use of bleach before the color is added, so you will need to visit a professional hair colorist or stylist. Ask the colorist to bleach thick streaks underneath your hair and then dye them the outrageous color of your choice. Remember that although you can have the colorist add as few or as many streaks as you'd like, you will look more "rock-starish" if the streaks are chunky and spaced apart.
Modified Mullet or "Shag"
More and more girls are asking to have their hair styled with more weight at the top of the head, faintly resembeling the shaggy look of the traditional eighties rock star mullet. For this cut, ask the stylist to add side bangs and lots of choppy, defined layers to your hair, whilst keeping the overall length as long as possible. To style, blow dry and flatiron your hair. Use your fingers and a hair wax to separate the layers and give them a chunky look. Finish by scrunching more wax onto the ends of hair to give it a spiky appearance.
Finally, wear your new hair style half-up to show off those streaks. For days wish wish look less subtle, wear your hair down, allowing the highlights to peek through as you bob your head to those rockin' beats.
