How to Make a Twist Bun for Short Hair

The twist bun is one of the most classic and widely recognized hairstyles. It not only keeps hair out of the face, but it also gives a woman a polished and sophisticated look. Because of these reasons, the twist bun is often used by ballerinas or gymnasts. It may seem impossible to create a twist bun with short hair. Even if it is achieved, there are usually strands of hair that can't make it into the bun. However, with the right tools and a little bit of patience, anybody can create a twist bun with short hair. This twist bun will look just as polished with short hair as it would with long hair.

Instructions

Wet the entire head of hair and comb it all straight back. Slick a little bit of gel (about a dime-sized dollop) into the hair to prevent fly aways.

Secure the hair at the back of the head in a ponytail with a hair tie. Secure any loose strands with bobby pins.

Twist the entire ponytail, starting at its base. Wind the twisted hair around the base of the ponytail, securing it with bobby pins every half inch along the twist.

Secure any loose strands of hair into the bun using bobby pins.
