Simple Scene-Girl Hairstyle

Scene style is a popular emerging style with teens and twenty-somethings. Scene style doesn't have any rules or boundaries, but it is all about using style and color to create a unique personality. Scene is best described as a mixture between preppy and emo styles. A scene hairstyle is key to breaking into this style genre, and it is relatively easy to create using cut, color and accessories to accentuate the individuality of the scene girl.

Cuts

A scene haircut is easily done by visiting your hairstylist. A stacked bob haircut is heavily layered in the front, with a long fringe bang on the side. If you want to go shorter, a choppy, all-over look is a simple way to get scene-girl hair. If you want to change your hair on your own, purchase a razor comb at a beauty-supply store and razor cut only the front portion of your hair to create an uneven look.

Styles

Once you've had your hair cut in a scene style, then you'll need to style it the right way. Scene hair is always stick straight, which means a flat iron is used. Straighten your hair all over, concentrating on the front portion, which should fall over the eyes. Often, scene girls will tease the crown of their hair so that it has a lot of volume, while the rest of their hair is straight. You can add braids and twists to change your look and style.

Colors

Anything goes when it comes to scene-girl hair color, which is why it's easy to change your look with temporary colors. The base hair color is usually jet black or peroxide blonde. Bright neon colors are popular, like purple, pink or blue, or a mixture of all three. Another popular hair-color pattern is a "coon-tail" design on one or two portions of the hair. This is when a streak of hair is striped to look like a raccoon tail, usually on the portion of hair that hangs down behind the ears.

Accessories

Scene girls can easily change their looks by using bright and colorful accessories to dress up their hairstyles. Preppy hair bands adorned with bows or argyle patterns are extremely popular, as are small bows and barrettes that one would find at a child's accessory shop. Children's characters like Hello Kitty and Dora the Explorer are popular fodder for hair bands and accessories, as they are brightly colored and individual.

Products

If you're looking for the right products to hold your scene-girl hairstyle in place, then look for foolproof ones like texturing wax that you can apply to the ends of your hair and tousle for a "piecey" look. Add mousse to your hair after showering, so it will hold the style that you place it in, and you can enjoy your scene-girl style longer.
