Women everywhere want more volume and fullness to their hair. Hair volume simply means that hair looks fuller at the crown and roots making hair appear thicker and healthier. This type of volume can be achieved through different ways; from salon blowouts to sprays and products. Using hot rollers is a popular way to give hair volume and can be done easily with a few tips and techniques.

Instructions

    1

Apply a leave-in conditioner or detangling spray to clean, damp hair. Using a detangling product will keep hair smooth and prevent it from becoming knotted while styling. Many detangling sprays also protect hair from damage due to heat styling. Comb detangling spray through hair with a wide tooth comb to evenly distribute.

    2

Plug in the hot rollers and turn them on to the appropriate heat setting. Allow hot rollers to reach the desired temperature before using them. While rollers are heating, allow your hair to air dry or blow dry to get hair mostly dry. Hot rollers should be ready to use by the time your hair is dry and ready for styling.

    3

Divide your hair in half, into two sections, to make styling easier. Take a 1-inch section of hair and spray a volume spray at the roots. With the roller in hand, begin rolling the 1-inch section of hair from the ends of the hair to the roots. Secure the roller in place at the roots with a bobby pin. Continue this all around the head until all hair or the top layer of hair is secured in rollers.

    4

Spray a lightweight or medium hold hair spray all over hair. Allow hair to remain in the hot rollers for fifteen to twenty minutes, or according to hot roller directions. You can go over the hot rollers with a blow dryer to ensure that the rollers set.

    5

Remove the hot rollers slowly, being careful not to pull out or tangle hair. Flip head upside down, allowing hair to cascade downward. Turn your head right side up and run your fingers up and outward through your hair. Hair should have volume and height at the crown and body or wave throughout.
